National

College and University Chapters

Chapters at colleges and universities across the country are the cornerstone of the CSAmerica program. Chapters work to fight political apathy and increase political awareness on their campuses through a variety of programs and projects. These include debates and discussions on pertinent issues facing college students, inviting speakers from the political arena to campus, registering students to vote, helping to facilitate absentee voting, and other events to make college students more knowledgeable about our political process and the effect it has on their lives.

These chapters exemplify the three fundamental principles of CSAmerica, which are:

                    1)  Idea-Oriented and Participation-Friendly Debate
                    2)  Civic Education and Voter Participation
                    3)  Political Awareness for College Students

Twice a year, these chapters converge for an overnight convention where students from colleges from all around the country engage in debate and discourse, listen to leading speakers, and learn about the important issues facing our country in a friendly and energetic atmosphere. At these conventions, many CSAmerica national projects to increase voter participation and fight political apathy are established and planned.

In addition, many chapters host day-long regional conferences at their campuses, which other chapters from their regions attend. CSAmerica chapters work together whenever possible because they face many of the same issues and challenges when fighting political apathy.

CSAmerica Council

Since CSAmerica is student-run, a group of student leaders plan and run CSAmerica. The CSAmerica Council is a small group of students who make decisions on what CSAmerica will do, how it will expand, where and when it will have conventions and more. They work with the CSAmerica Cabinet to execute specific initiatives and programs.
